Dr Alberto Veloso

Director; Psychiatrist

Alberto is a compassionate and visionary child psychiatrist dedicated to improving the mental health of children and families, particularly those in regional areas who face barriers to accessing services. He plays a key role in the service delivery of Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) in Mildura, ensuring that children and families in remote communities receive the care they need. Alberto is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Mental Health Foundation of Australia, contributing his expertise to advance mental health research and advocacy on a broader scale.

His approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, particularly Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), which emphasizes the critical role of parent-child relationships in preventing and treating mental illness. Guided by the principles of playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy (PACE), Alberto integrates neurobiological insights into his philosophy to foster emotional growth and resilience.

As the founder and leader of Relational Minds, Alberto is committed to creating meaningful change not only for individuals but also for families and future generations. He is especially passionate about supporting Aboriginal children, children in out-of-home care, and other vulnerable populations who are most in need of compassionate, trauma-informed care. His Filipino heritage provides a strong foundation of traditional values, while his Australian cultural identity inspires openness, ambition, and a drive to encourage others to reach their full potential. A forward-thinking professional, Alberto leverages technology to enhance his practice and explores its transformative potential in revolutionising child psychiatry.
