Supporting Recovery Through Understanding and Connection
Our individual psychological therapy helps children, adolescents, and families develop insight, resilience, and practical skills to manage emotional and mental health challenges.
What Is Psychological Therapy?
Psychological therapy provides a structured space to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours — and to build strategies that promote healing and wellbeing. Our clinicians combine evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Sensorimotor (body-based) approaches with Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) to support emotional safety and connection. We don’t just focus on symptoms — we focus on the whole person, their development, and their relationships.
Who We Work With
We provide psychological treatment for:
- Children and adolescents facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges
- Young adults navigating stress, mood changes, or transitions
- Parents and carers seeking tools to support recovery at home
Our approach integrates the family system, because meaningful change happens within safe and attuned relationships — not in isolation.
Our Therapeutic Approaches
Each client’s therapy plan is tailored to their unique needs. Our clinicians draw from:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helps identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Builds psychological flexibility through mindfulness and values-based action.
- Art Therapy: Encourages emotional expression through creative, non-verbal processes.
- Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Uses body awareness to regulate the nervous system and process trauma.
- Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP): A relational, attachment-focused model that builds trust, safety, and connection.
We help clients understand the ‘why’ behind their emotions and behaviours — not just how to manage them.
Our Team Approach
At Relational Minds, therapy is never a solo effort. Our clinicians work collaboratively with psychiatrists, family therapists, and support workers to ensure each person receives coordinated, evidence-based care.
We hold regular supervised clinical review meetings to maintain the highest standard of treatment and reflection. This ensures every client benefits from the collective expertise of our team.
Our psychiatric team can provide:
- Diagnostic assessments
- Comprehensive formulation of history and mental health context
- Consideration of biological treatments (e.g., medications) when appropriate.
The Role of Families and Carers
We believe that individual therapy alone is rarely enough for full recovery. True healing happens when carers, families, and environments are included in the process.
Our family clinicians work closely with parents, carers, and schools to help everyone involved understand the child’s emotional world and support them more effectively.
When families grow in understanding, children grow in safety.
What You Can Expect
- A safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental therapeutic environment
- Clear communication and collaboration with your care team
- Sessions that focus on both skills (coping strategies, emotional regulation) and understanding (why difficulties arise and how to heal them)
- Ongoing review of progress to ensure therapy remains relevant and effective
Parent Feedback
“Relational Minds supported our family through one of the toughest chapters in our lives. The team didn’t just focus on our child — they helped us all understand what was happening beneath the surface. The combination of therapy, family guidance, and psychiatric support has made such a difference. We felt cared for every step of the way.”
