How our care works

Working with us is not a series of appointments that happen to follow each other. It is a planned piece of work, with a clear beginning, a shared direction, and a plan you leave holding.

01

It starts with a proper first appointment

Your first session is a Discovery appointment, led by one of our senior clinicians. It is a real piece of clinical work, not a quick intake call. We spend the time understanding your child, your family, and what has brought you here, so that everything after it is built on an accurate picture rather than a rushed one.

02

We think about your child as a team

After Discovery, your clinician brings your child’s situation to our wider clinical team, including senior clinicians and child psychiatry. This means the thinking about your child is never resting on one person. It is one of the quieter things we do, and one of the most important.

03

We plan your care together

Next, you and your clinician sit down to agree the plan. This is where you have a real say. Together we decide where to put the weight first.

For some families, the priority is easing the hardest parts of daily life sooner, through practical support, changes at home, and where it helps, input from our psychiatrist. For others, the priority is building a clearer understanding of what is going on, including developmental history and, where needed, formal assessment. Both happen either way. You help decide which one leads.

You leave this session with the direction set, and usually with something to try before the next appointment.

04

The work itself

From there, we work in a focused block, usually four to six sessions. This keeps the work purposeful and gives us a natural point to step back and check how things are going, rather than drifting from one week to the next.

05

Bringing it together

At the end of the block, we meet for a Report and Feedback session. We walk you through what we have learned, and give you a written plan that pulls it all together, what is going on for your child, what to focus on now, and where things are heading. For many parents this is the first time their child’s story has been laid out clearly in one place.

06

Growing and repairing, over time

At the end of the block, we meet for a Report and Feedback session. We walk you through what we have learned, and give you a written plan that pulls it all together, what is going on for your child, what to focus on now, and where things are heading. For many parents this is the first time their child’s story has been laid out clearly in one place.

What stays true the whole way through

You are not chasing providers or repeating your story to a new face each time. We hold the bigger picture, keep your care team pointing the same way, and work through you, because you are the person who helps your child most.
