Dr Dan Mirmilstein is a Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist who works with children, young people, parents and carers across a broad range of emotional, behavioural, developmental and mental health presentations.
Dan’s role at Relational Minds involves psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and therapeutic work with children, adolescents and families. He works collaboratively with parents, schools, allied health professionals and other services to help young people feel understood, supported and able to thrive.
Families can expect a warm, thoughtful and relationship-focused approach. Dan takes time to understand each child’s unique strengths, challenges, developmental history and family context, with a focus on building shared understanding and practical pathways forward.
His areas of interest include neurodevelopmental presentations such as ADHD and Autism, anxiety disorders, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma, attachment, school engagement, and supporting children and young people in Out-of-Home Care.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours), a Diploma of Child Health, a Master of Psychiatry, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists with a Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dan speaks English & Russian, and a little French.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys spending time with his family, exploring Melbourne’s parks and playgrounds with his children, and continually learning about child development, relationships and wellbeing.
