Programs are designed using attachment-focused and developmental approaches tailored to your family’s needs.
Therapy and Psychiatric Support for your child and family
Our OOHC treatment pathways are designed for children and young people in foster care, kinship care, residential care, and other care arrangements who need coordinated therapeutic support.
Support may include:
- Family therapy
- Carer support
- Child psychological therapy
- Child psychiatric consultation when clinically needed
Psychiatric input is part of the care team, not a separate referral.
Dr Alberto Veloso, Child Psychiatrist and Paediatrician, provides consultation on medication, diagnostic complexity, and treatment direction as part of the young person’s care.
Available in-clinic at Sunbury, Mildura, and Bendigo, and via telehealth across Australia.
OUR APPROACH
DDP and PACE at the Centre
Everything we do is grounded in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and the PACE framework — Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy. This shapes how we assess, how we treat, how we support parents, and how we work with schools and care teams. It is not one approach among many. It is the foundation.
Our approach combines
Psychiatry-Led Clinical Depth
Child psychiatric expertise integrated into assessment and treatment, not offered as a separate service. Diagnostic clarity, medication guidance, and developmental formulation from a child psychiatrist and paediatrician.
Practical Strategies for Real Life
Clear plans that translate into what you can do at home and what school and support teams can do alongside you. Not theory. Not worksheets. Strategies matched to your child’s developmental and emotional reality.
Parent Capability at the Centre
We work through parents and carers because they are the key agents of healing. Our programs build your confidence and skills so that change holds between sessions and across years.
Whole-Child Understanding
We integrate neurodevelopment, mental health, learning, and lived experience into one coherent picture. No more bouncing between professionals who each see a fragment
How It Works
Three simple steps to get the support your family needs.
Get in Touch
Contact us by phone, email, or the enquiry form. Our team will listen to what’s happening and guide you toward the right starting point.
Discovery Appointment
Your first clinical session. We hear your concerns, understand your child’s history, and begin building the picture.
Assessment and Formulation
We bring together everything we learn — developmental history, direct assessment, and your observations — into a clear formulation that makes your child’s behaviour and emotions make sense.
A Clear Plan Forward
You receive a face-to-face walkthrough of findings and a plan that covers what to do at home, what school needs to know, and what support looks like from here.
